Over the counter treatments for hemorrhoids quite often contain ingredients and chemicals that are not needed to cure the actual symptoms. Worse yet, these chemicals can be harmful or exacerbate other symptoms. Not to pick on Preparation-H, but did you know that the product contains Phenylephrine?
Phenylephrine has been known to raise blood pressure, and if you are someone with hypertension, this is not a good thing. And that’s just one example out of many and is why we recommend naturally treating your hemorrhoids.
However, did you know that there are safer options that can use to help ease the burning and itchy pain caused by hemorrhoids? Some of which you may already have hiding in your medicine cabinet or freezer.
Ice Is Nice
Applying a partially melted ice cube to the area can instantly constrict the blood vessels, easing the throbbing pain quite often associated with the condition. The key is partially melted. You never want to place a completely frozen, fresh out of the freezer ice cube to the area as it can cause it to stick and tear tissue causing you even more pain.
The last thing you want with hemorrhoids is further skin abrasions that can lead to further complications such as infections to the area. This is very important to keep in mind.
You can apply the partially melted ice cube to the area about 2 or 3 times a day to give you instant relief and stay ahead of the pain.
Aloe Vera is Your Friend
Some people will use the leaves of the aloe vera plant. Usually this is done by cutting the leaves in strips and freezing them before applying the aloe vera side of the leaf directly to the area. Be sure before freezing that you remember to cut the thorny side of the leaf away from each strip.
Some recommend placing a portion of the plant inside the rectum for long-term application. This can provide constant application to the area providing more long-term sustained relief throughout the day. However, a word of caution, be sure to leave a part of the leaf out so that it can be removed quite easily.
This is one of my all time favorites and seems to address the pain instantly. At least for me it does. I have made the use of baby wipes a daily habit at least once each day. Consistent use as a daily maintenance can prevent hemorrhoids.
They have been proven effective for some when applied directly to the area and holding the wipe there for a few seconds or more.
Think about it — the wipes are used to help clean and nourish a baby’s skin. Baby skin is probably the most delicate of all. And in our case, when hemorrhoids do flare, its best to treat with a mild application. I can think of nothing milder than a baby wipe. Try it and you just may find the benefits.
At last, the old tried and true remedy of witch hazel. In and of itself, it’s a spot on remedy. However, if you drench a baby wipe with witch Hazel or even regular toilet paper the benefits are tremendous. And of course, most all of us have or currently have in our medicine cabinet, a bottle of this stuff. Give it a try, and I think you’ll be amazed!
One final Note
Don’t forget, the benefits of spending a little extra on toilet paper or a brand that provides more gentle, less abrasive wiping. Quite often hemorrhoids originate from cuts or tears that inflame the blood vessels leading to pain and misery.
A quick trip to Wal-Mart and a peruse through the toilet paper aisle just may be the trick to resolve reoccurring bouts with hemorrhoids.
Talking about hemorrhoids is never easy, an there is really no true way to discuss the subject without getting down and dirty with the details. However, if you suffer from occasional hemorrhoid flare ups and are looking for ways to prevent them from reoccurring, then putting these things out on the table is just a mere inconvenience in the path to finding sustainable long-term relief.
I wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t indicate that these in-home cures may not prove effective if you suffer from chronic hemorrhoids. Some doctors may lead you to believe that surgery is the only surefire solution to chronic hemorrhoid problems.
Before going that far and/or continue to apply chemically based creams that are messy and can prove harmful down the road, we invite you to check out a comprehensive review of an all natural solution that many have found effective in providing long-term relief naturally and conveniently.
